ABOUT LOCO TRANQUILO

Loco Tranquilo is the musical project of Argentine-born, San Francisco-based musician Julián Armando Gervasi a songwriter, performer, and unapologetic music rebel who refuses to believe that creativity needs a set of rules.

Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Gervasi left Argentina at a young age and embarked on an unconventional journey through the United States that eventually led him to California. With little more than a guitar and a dream, he built his musical identity through travel, independence, experimentation, uncertainty, and perseverance.

That journey became the foundation of Loco Tranquilo: a project born from the collision of different places, cultures, sounds, and states of mind.

The name itself emerged from a chance encounter with Devendra Banhart, who told Gervasi, “Tranquilo, man.”Combined with the Argentine use of loco as an affectionate way of saying “dude” or “man,” the name evolved into more than an identity. It became a philosophy:

Chaos and calm. Restlessness and peace. Instinct and reflection. Always moving beneath the surface.

Musically, Loco Tranquilo moves fluidly between Latin alternative, indie rock, psychedelic pop, dream pop, garage rock, folk, post-punk, and European-influenced alternative music. Rather than belonging to a single genre, the project draws from each of these worlds to create something personal and unpredictable where Latin rhythms can meet distorted guitars, folk melodies can drift into psychedelic textures, and raw post-punk energy can coexist with pop sensibility.

The goal isn't to sound like something else. The goal is to sound like Loco Tranquilo.

At the heart of it all is a commitment to authenticity over formula. Gervasi writes from lived experience, allowing vulnerability, contradiction, melancholy, and hope to coexist naturally within the music.

After more than a decade of writing, recording, and performing independently, Gervasi has brought Loco Tranquilo to stages including The Chapel, Great American Music Hall, Rickshaw Stop, and Bottom of the Hill. But the project has never been about fitting neatly into a scene or chasing whatever sound is currently expected.

It's about following the song wherever it wants to go.

Now, Loco Tranquilo enters a new chapter with “Sueño,” a guitar-driven, emotionally charged song about self-love, healing, identity, and the courage to keep dreaming without certainty. Written in Spanish which is the language in which Gervasi's emotions arrive most instinctively “Sueño” represents a more direct and uncompromising expression of who he is.

Born in Buenos Aires. Shaped by the road. Rooted in San Francisco.

Loco Tranquilo lives somewhere between chaos and calm, between cultures, between genres, and between what a song is supposed to be and what it could become.

No formulas. No boxes. No rules that can't be broken.

Just music that has something real to say.
